Lifestyle Disorder Treatments

Diabetes

A disease in which the body’s ability to produce or respond to the hormone insulin is impaired, resulting in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and elevated levels of glucose in the blood. Udwarthana, Dhanyamla dhara, Virechana, and internal medications along with strict diet and lifestyle modifications can control diabetes and prevent complications.

Thyroid Disorder

Thyroid disease is a general term for a medical condition that keeps your thyroid from making the right amount of hormones. Your thyroid typically makes hormones that keep your body functioning normally. When the thyroid makes too much thyroid hormone, your body uses energy too quickly. This is called hyperthyroidism. Problems with the thyroid can be caused by iodine deficiency. Inflammation of the thyroid gland is caused by autoimmune diseases in which the immune system attacks the thyroid, leading either to hyperthyroidism (caused by Graves' disease) or hypothyroidism (caused by Hashimoto's disease).

Dyslipidaemia

Hyperlipidemia, also known as dyslipidemia or high cholesterol, means you have too many lipids (fats) in your blood. Excessive deposition of cholesterol in the blood vessels makes it difficult for the blood to flow through the arteries. As a result, the heart may not get as much oxygen-rich blood as it needs, which increases the risk of a heart attack. Decreased blood flow to the brain can cause a stroke

Hypertension

Essential hypertension is defined as chronic elevation in arterial blood pressure (BP) > 140/90 mmHg with no discernable causes. Unhealthy diet and lifestyle, stress, and a lack of adequate sleep are some of the factors that contribute to hypertension. Adopting Ayurvedic guidelines can be helpful in decreasing the incidence of hypertension-related complications.

Metabolic Syndrome

Obesity, hypertriglyceridemia, impaired glucose tolerance, and insulin resistance are all symptoms of metabolic syndrome, which is a multi-factorial disease. Ayurveda gives due importance to exercise and diet followed by medicine in such conditions.

Sleep Disorders

Ayurveda describes sleep as a basic instinct of life, essential to all living beings. We need it to rejuvenate and reenergize our body, mind, and spirit. In Ayurveda, sleep is one of the three pillars of good health, known as nidra. Then there's food (ahara) and control over sexual energy (brahmacharya). Sleep disorders or insomnia mean lack of sleep or disturbances in sleep. It can affect mood, energy, hormone levels, and the entire health system. Sirodhara, Takradhara, Siroabhyanga , Padaabhyanga, etc help in managing sleep disorders.

Gastro-intestinal Disorders

The Gastrointestinal (GI) system or stomach system is also called the digestive system and includes the various organs of the human digestive tract from the mouth to the anal opening, plus the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. According to Ayurveda, the causes of gastric problems are inappropriate eating habits accompanied by certain poor lifestyle choices. Additionally, increasing age, certain infections, and other diseases of the GI tract (like tumors and absorption problems) are also responsible for gastrointestinal diseases.

Obesity

In Ayurveda, Atisthaulya (Obesity) is described as excessive accumulation of Meda (fat/adipose tissue) and Mamsa (flesh/muscle tissue) leading to flabbiness of hips, abdomen, and breast. It is considered as one of Santarpanottha Vikaras (disease due to consumption of excessive calories) in Ayurveda.

Orthopaedics

Orthopedic diseases are a general term for all conditions affecting the muscles, ligaments, and joints in any part of the body. An injury or damage to the ligament or joints affects the movement of the joint and quality of life. Abhyanga, Swedana, and Vasti are selected according to the condition, followed by rasayana chikitsa ,to prevent the recurrence.
